Claim a name

A name such as yours.dokkit.dev for your Dokkit server, with a real certificate, even on a private network. Your server proves it holds the name's key before the record goes live, and keeps it renewed. A name lapses when its server stops renewing it.

  1. Sign inso each name has an owner.
  2. Pick a nameand get a claim code, shown once.
  3. Paste it into your serverunder Settings, Certificate. It points the name at itself and gets a certificate.

Why sign in?

A name points at your server, so it needs an owner. Signing in is what lets only you release a name or move it to a new server, keeps one person to 3 names, and lets a name used for abuse be traced to one account.

Dokkit keeps only the id your sign-in gives it and a display name. No password, and no email address is asked for.
